03 Jan After the Movie: The Peanuts Movie
October 2015, the song “Better When I’m Dancin'” by Meghan Trainor was released as the soundtrack to the film, The Peanuts Movie. I fell in love with the song. It’s fun to listen, makes me want to dance, and I also like the lyrics. To be honest, I know nothing about Charlie Brown and Snoopy. I never see or read the comics. I only saw that this Snoopy dog is on many stuff like cups, wallets, towels, and many more. Shortly after that, I learn that Christophe Beck did the music for this animation. I like his work from many movies and of course, from Frozen! Once I saw the trailer in the cinema a few weeks ago, it was quite cute, and I decided to see it in cinema.
Okay, one thing you should know about me is that I don’t regularly see an animation in a cinema unless it’s musical. Or maybe I made a few exception like I went to see Inside Out last year. The good thing is whenever I decided to see an animation in cinema; I ended up liking it. Haha And this time, The Peanuts Movie has my heart. The movie was incredibly cute. All the characters are adorable; I love them all equally. The movie came with such a strong message. I could relate myself to Charlie Brown when he wasn’t brave enough to talk to the red-haired girl. When I like or have a crush on someone, I don’t have the courage to speak to them. And I thought I’m just a loser compared to all other competitions that are taller, more beautiful or skinnier. I don’t care about that anymore. I’m a good person; I’m going to be myself and one day someone will see me for who I really am. Another part that hit me was about the fame. When Charlie suddenly got all the attention from the whole school and wondered if people really like him for who he is, or it’s just that one thing he did that make everyone think he’s awesome. (Sorry, I won’t put any spoilers. hehe) Well, I didn’t expect the song “Better When I’m Dancin'” to be in the movie. When I heard it, I got tears in my eyes. I wanted to get up and dance! I’m a sucker for anything musical, and I’m not sorry about it. Hehe Here is the song; I’ve been talking about.
We all want to be a winner in someone’s eyes, but you shouldn’t lose yourself. Try to be the best version of you but learn to be better. You can learn new skills, read books or do many good things. If you see the trailer and though “this is cute” then see it. The animation isn’t just for kids anymore. Even though it’s a stupid one, at least, it can remind you how fun it was to feel like a kid again. There are a few other points I could say about this movie, but I don’t want to write any spoilers! Hehe Here are some quotes I like from the film, enjoy! (source from IMDb)
Charlie Brown: A dog doesn’t try to give advice, or judge you; they just love you for who you are. It’s nice to have someone who will just sit and listen to you.
Charlie Brown: Whenever I feel really alone, I just sit and stare into the night sky. I’ve always thought that one of those stars was *my* star, and at moments like this, I know that *my* star will always be there for me. Like a comfortable voice saying, “Don’t give up, kid.”
Charlie Brown: I just hope this new kid has never heard of me. He would know nothing of my past imperfections. It’s not often you get the opportunity to start over with a clean slate. This time things will be different.
Charlie Brown: The whole world seems to be conspiring against me. I’m just asking for a little help for once in my life.
Charlie Brown: I can’t stop thinking about it, Linus. After all the humiliating disasters she witnessed this year, why would she choose me? Was she feeling sorry for me? I don’t want her to choose me just because she was feeling sorry for me. I have slightly more dignity than that.
